Life Bioscience Centre Reception

Coryza, Ozaena, Pollinosis and Sinusitis.
4 different vases from a collection of 5. The design is based on a 3D scan of an airborne snotty and finally produced using a digital prototyping technology. The collection of 5 airborne snotty vases has recently been purchased by the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, and is currently touring.

Airborne Snotty Vase

Designers have always drawn on natural forms as inspiration for their products but this project by Marcel Wanders takes it to a new extreme. Using the latest digital-scanning technology it captures the form of mucus particles emitted during a sneeze and turns them into vases.

Called Airborne Snotty, the series consists of five vases named after five different diseases of the nasal cavity: ozaena (fetid discharge), pollinosis (hay fever), coryza (runny nose), influenza and sinusitis. Please note that Influenza will not be on display.

The Airborne Snotty Vases collection will be on display in the Centre for Life Bioscience Centre Reception, and is FREE to the general public.
