The Centre for Life in Newcastle welcomed the Science and Innovation Minister, Lord Drayson, to its science centre and educational workshops today (4 March 2010).
The minister met with children from visiting schools during the morning and met with students from Milecastle Primary from Newcastle who were enjoying an 'Alive in Space' workshop. The Centre for Life provides the largest number of science workshops in Europe, offering around 40,000 science experiences to young people each year.
Lord Drayson commented: "Newcastle's Centre for Life is setting new standards in public engagement, making science both relevant and exciting. A country with science at its core is one that's powerful, prosperous and confident. We need a society that understands the value of scientific research and its application."
